I'm commenting about an issue wherein some pro-designers are submitting "generic" logo designs. I think banning them just because some designers can't accept their defeat is absolutely unfair and absurd. I'm not saying that I'm one of those who submits generic designs just because I look like defending them (I am not defending anyone), all I am saying is that, we all submit an entry to a contest. The Client has a multitude of designs to choose from but the questions is that, "Why did he choose a generic design?". It's because, that's the client wants. Maybe the clients is not fond of such grand design or maybe the client just want a simple yet elegant design. We don't know the reason behind their decision. All I know is that, at the end of the contest, the client will still be the one choosing the winning design. It maybe a generic one or not. It's their decision and you can't do anything to change that unless it's a copied design. So for me, if you're reporting someone just because you can't accept your defeat is completely absurd. Instead of reporting those who have generic designs, why not focus your attention to those who submits copied design? I think that would be better that chasing those generic designers. Just a thought of mine.

maphicedy: Excellent comment! Couldn't agree more. There is a difference between copied and generic design, and in the end clients are the ones who choose how their design will look.
maphicedy
bestdesigns: That's exactly my point. I find some designers ranting about those "pro" who are allegedly making "generic" designs but they didn't think about the fact that this is a contest. Any designs are welcome as long as it is not a copied design. Be it generic or not. At the end of the day/contest, the client is still the one doing the decision. As a matter of fact, they paid for it. So why not give the client what he wants. Right? It's not the designers fault that the client wants a generic one instead of those complicated designs. As long as it's not copied, I do not have any issue about those designers using generic designs. :)

maphicedy:
do you know that generic logos cannot be registered? But how can you think of defending generic logos. The client chooses them because he has already seen them around, it's only a psychological factor. The customer pays the money for a logo that has NO value, it's not fair, it's essential that everyone understand this, especially Designhill

madein: I'm not defending anyone FYI. I am just expressing my thoughts about this issue. We are all just a contestants here and the Client is the judge. Who cares if he chooses the generic one over the original one? I mean, they paid for it. Their money, their choice. It's up to the client if they want the generic design or not. Some clients also include that in their design brief. Some CH uses that "generic" logo to psychologically attract their clients too. What's the matter in using a simple box and a name in a logo? Or even a circle and a name? Oh com'n. Clients choice not designers choice. :)

maphicedy: FYI here, we are discussing about generic logos, generic logos have NO economic value, a professional designer should know this.

Copied/generic logos

Two contests in which i hv recently participated have winners who's designs look copied, too simple and do not match the details clients put in their brief. The client either should refrain from giving unnecessary details if they are selecting simple generic logos. Or such designers should be banned... DH plz take action towards this.

Designhill, why most of designer from bangladesh? and most of designer use generic and same 3d wall mockup design in contest , few pro designer are very good designer ,but rest of designer use each other design in contest , you should restrict to enter too much designer from Bangladesh, also you do not take any personal identity to verify account, so if you any designer block then they create another account with different address , recently one generic designer Me2Me change name to DesignTm and now this designer create another account name FRtm here is link:
Me2Me designer Link: https://www.designhill.com/member/designtm
